10 Ways to Challenge Yourself

Challenging yourself, putting yourself in unfamiliar situations, and venturing outside your comfort zone are not ideas many people are enthused about. However, these are the things that can help change occur.


Personal growth can aid you in living a life full of purpose and passion. Change requires a positive mindset and the will to improve.


I've compiled a list of ten ways to start challenging yourself:

  1. Set a goal- Setting goals gives you something to work toward, a purpose.

  2. Complete a task outside of your comfort zone- do something that generally scares you. Whether you have a fear of public speaking or you're afraid of heights, there are so many ways to face these.

  3. Start exercising- Partaking in regular physical activity can improve a lot of functionality within your body. It's been shown to increase happiness as well.

  4. Do a social media cleanse- A social media cleanse includes refraining from social media platforms for a period of time. This can help with self-regulation and self-esteem.

  5. Maintain a proper sleep schedule- Following a consistent sleep schedule assists your body in running effectively. You may even find falling asleep and waking up easier.

  6. Learn something new- Learning something new is a great way to exercise your brain, and enhance cognitive function. You could enrol in a class you're interested in or learn a whole new language!

  7. Bring out your creative side- When you engage your creative side, you create an outlet for self-expression.

  8. Reach out to a friend you haven't spoken to in awhile- We all know life gets busy, and despite our best intentions don't always make the time for connecting with our loved ones.

  9. Write out a gratitude list- One of the best habits to get into is practicing gratitude daily. By making a list of things you're grateful for, you will begin to attract even more positivity into your life.

  10. Purge your closet- From those random t-shirts from events you attended a decade ago, or those jeans that have one rip too many, there is plenty of items in your wardrobe that are just taking up space, and cluttering our lives.

Starting with small challenges, will lead to a very major contribution in your personal growth over time.
